#4 January 25th, 2024. Last day in Lusaka

This Morning was early for some and later for others as we adjusted to the new times. We are all doing quite well and have no serious jet lag, except for dozing off easily.

The retreat centre of the Sister Servants of Mary Immaculate is a wonderful place to stay. Simple clean rooms, great food and good company. What a cheerful hardworking group of sisters.

The convent is situated on a large allotment of farmland and the sisters have many, many gardens where they grow food to sustain many people. They also have many pigs and (in the cleanest pig barns we have ever seen) and chickens for food. They also have a bakery and two schools with a large enrolment.

The sisters garden and carry out their duties in beautiful blue habits and manage to look clean and fresh all the time despite garden work.

Tomorrow we will fly to Mansa in a small commuter plane. It can’t manage all our luggage (50 lb checked baggage X 6 and plus our carry on and personal items, some which were 25 lbs each. We were downgraded to a baggage allowance of 5kg in Cabin and 15 kg checked. To make sure all our donated hats, sunglasses and other items made it to Kawambwa we had to hire a someone to deliver the extra luggage.

Yesterday we bought SIM cards for our phones.

Thank you to our friends and supporters for the words of encouragement.
